KUWAIT CITY, Sep 08: Warba Bank has issued a warning about new and sophisticated methods of fraud and electronic scams, reinforcing its commitment to raising public awareness and participating actively in initiatives that enhance trust and confidence in the financial system. As part of its efforts, the bank is supporting the “Let’s Be Aware” campaign launched in collaboration with the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banking Association.

Ayman Salem Al-Mutairi, Director Marketing & Corporate Communication at Warba Bank, stated that the bank continuously strives to educate the public through targeted awareness campaigns, utilizing various media, including informative videos and text messages disseminated across social media and digital banking channels. The bank also republishes important messages from the Central Bank of Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of protecting individuals from financial scams, such as unauthorized transactions and phishing attempts on official-looking platforms.

Al-Mutairi emphasized, “Our participation in the ‘Let’s Be Aware’ campaign highlights the increasing threat posed by fraudulent messages aiming to steal personal and banking information. These new techniques are executed by organized crime rings that target customer data and attempt to gain unauthorized access to bank accounts.”

He elaborated that scammers frequently send deceptive messages via email or fake websites designed to look like well-known institutions or large companies, misleading users who may struggle to distinguish between genuine and fraudulent communications.

With regards to scam Tactics and Precautions, Al-Mutari states that the tactics employed by scammers are diverse, including deceptive emails, fake ads, and phishing calls that falsely promise financial rewards. Scammers attempt to gain access to personal information under the guise of official entities, targeting unsuspecting users and exploiting their trust.

Al-Mutairi highlighted the critical importance of verifying the legitimacy of any email or message claiming to be from official sources, particularly when they involve requests for sensitive information like banking details or account credentials. He also stressed the necessity of using strong, unique passwords and regularly logging out of banking applications after use.

Furthermore, Al-Mutairi reiterated that Warba Bank will never request personal information via email, text, or unsolicited phone calls. Any such requests should be regarded with suspicion, as they are likely attempts to fraudulently obtain customer data for unauthorized access to funds.

Warba Bank remains committed to enhancing its service offerings and supporting the community by promoting safe and secure banking practices. The bank continues to innovate in the field of Islamic banking services, positioning itself as a trusted partner close to the community.
