Google Pixel 6 users warned about risks of factory reset.

NEW YORK, July 2: Recent reports have surfaced indicating that Google Pixel 6 users are encountering a serious software problem during factory resets, rendering some devices unusable. According to multiple complaints on Google support forums and observations by Tech-Issues Today, several Pixel 6 owners have experienced their phones becoming completely bricked following a factory reset.

Google has acknowledged the issue and is actively investigating, as confirmed in comments on the support forums. Users detailed encountering an error message after attempting a factory reset, which states: “Cannot load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.”

Attempts to retry the reset often fail, and subsequent efforts may trigger alarming messages about critical file errors like “tune2fs” or failures to enable essential components of the phone’s file system integrity.

The mention of “tune2fs” suggests underlying issues within the system tools responsible for managing the device’s storage. The problem appears widespread, with numerous Reddit users also reporting similar issues where even Google’s recovery tools prove ineffective.

In response to inquiries, Google has been contacted for an official statement, and updates will follow as the situation develops.

While Google is aware of the issue, a permanent fix is still pending. Users of the Pixel 6 series are advised to refrain from performing factory resets until Google releases a resolution. This caution extends to Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a models, as continued attempts to reset may exacerbate the problem.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Pixel users have faced software challenges that detract from the otherwise positive experience these devices aim to deliver. Until these persistent issues are addressed by Google, frustrations among affected users are likely to persist.
