KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, forecasted that the country will experience active southeasterly winds until Thursday morning. These winds may exceed speeds of 60 kilometers per hour, leading to dust storms in some areas, particularly in exposed regions.
In an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali explained that the dust storms will reduce horizontal visibility and increase wave heights to over 7 feet. He also indicated the possibility of scattered light rain on Thursday.
Al-Ali urged the public to exercise caution due to reduced visibility, particularly on highways, and advised postponing any marine activities because of the high waves. He also emphasized the importance of wearing masks to protect against the rising dust, as well as being mindful of the high relative humidity in some coastal areas, which could exacerbate allergy and asthma symptoms.
