Kuwait Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rains, with increasing instability expected.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Kuwait Meteorological Department has issued a forecast anticipating the onset of light to moderate rains in the country, starting today afternoon, Saturday, with increasing instability expected to follow into the evening tomorrow, Sunday. Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi, Director of the Department, shared insights with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), on Friday, detailing the anticipated weather patterns.

According to Al-Qarawi, the latest projections from numerical models and weather maps suggest that Kuwait will be influenced by the extension of a superficial depression coinciding with a cold and deep depression in the upper atmosphere. This weather phenomenon is expected to commence tomorrow afternoon, leading to the proliferation of low and medium clouds, interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds, resulting in light to moderate rainfall.

Furthermore, Al-Qarawi cautioned that the state of instability is set to commence on Sunday evening, with the likelihood of rain gradually increasing, accompanied by thunderstorms of varying intensity, ranging from medium to heavy. Certain areas may also experience hail, along with active southeasterly winds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour, which could trigger dust storms and reduce horizontal visibility. Additionally, sea waves are predicted to rise to heights exceeding seven feet in certain coastal regions.

Al-Qarawi noted that gradual improvement is expected to commence by noon next Monday, with clouds dissipating and rain chances diminishing, as an air high advances. However, there remains a possibility of fog formation at night, leading to reduced horizontal visibility in select areas.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions during this period of anticipated inclement weather and fluctuating conditions.
