KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23: Muhammad Al-Sindan, Director of the Public Relations Department and official spokesperson for Kuwait Municipality, has confirmed that the decision to remove event tents (wedding tents) across all governorates will take effect on March 1. In a press statement, Al-Sindan explained that the decision was made due to the misuse of temporary wedding hall licenses, which were originally intended to provide a social service for citizens to host their events.
He acknowledged citizens’ concerns regarding their planned events and clarified that individuals can apply for a special license through the municipality under existing regulations. Al-Sindan also commended the cooperation of temporary event hall owners, many of whom have voluntarily begun removing their structures. He urged them to complete the removal process within the current week to comply with the municipality’s directive. He emphasized that municipal inspection teams are fully prepared to enforce the decision, stating that all remaining event tents will be removed without hesitation starting March 1. The teams will begin implementing the removal process on Saturday.
