NEW YORK, Nov 17: WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature called "Message Drafts," designed to help users save unsent messages and prevent the loss of incomplete text. This update automatically saves unfinished messages as drafts, ensuring that no content is lost when users leave a chat before sending it.
The feature integrates seamlessly into the app. When users begin composing a message and exit the chat without sending it, WhatsApp displays a green "Draft" label in the chat list. This label, along with the draft preview, helps users quickly identify and finish their messages. Chats with saved drafts are also moved to the top of the chat list for easier access.
This update brings WhatsApp in line with competitors like Telegram and Google Messages, which have long offered similar functionalities. While the feature is a minor update, it greatly enhances the user experience by reducing the likelihood of losing or forgetting unsent messages.
In addition to Message Drafts, WhatsApp has introduced other recent improvements. One notable feature is "Custom Lists," which allows users to organize chats with personalized tags like "Work," "Friends," or "Family," providing more options for chat management.
WhatsApp is also working on an exciting new feature that will allow users to create usernames instead of using phone numbers. This would enable users to access their accounts across devices without needing their phone nearby. This feature, still in development, is expected to include synchronization tools for consistent contact lists across devices.
On the privacy front, WhatsApp has enhanced user control over who can see personal details like profile photos and "last seen" status. These settings can now be customized for specific contacts or groups. Additionally, WhatsApp has added features that allow users to lock chats with passcodes or biometric authentication for increased security.
With these updates, WhatsApp continues to improve its app, focusing on user convenience, better organization, and stronger privacy features, staying competitive with other messaging platforms.
