Meta Platforms-owned platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, experienced widespread outages affecting hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, as reported by outage tracking website Downdetector.com. The disruptions began around 10:00 am ET, with over 300,000 reports of Facebook outages and approximately 40,000 reports for Instagram, according to the website.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issue, stating, "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now," in a post on social media platform X.

Meta's status dashboard indicated problems with the application programming interface (API) for WhatsApp Business as well, with around 200 reports of outages for WhatsApp on Downdetector. This outage became one of the top trending topics on X, with numerous users reporting sudden logouts from Meta-owned social media platforms.
