Wolves and Lama Mama take home titles at The League Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19: "The League" Championship for amateur basketball players concluded recently at the Mishref courts attracting a large and enthusiastic audience.

In the men’s competition, the Wolves clinched the title with a narrow 60-59 victory over the Mustangs in the final match. On the women’s side, the Lama Mama team emerged victorious, defeating the Bulls 62-54 in the final.

Following the tournament, representatives of the sponsors and organizers, including Salem Al Salem, Dalal Al Mishaal, and Sara Al Muslim, awarded trophies to the winning teams.

Salem Al Salem, one of the event organizers, praised the championship’s success, attributing it to the high technical skill level of the participating teams and the vibrant audience support from citizens and residents. The event featured players from diverse backgrounds, including American, Lebanese, Egyptian, Palestinian, and Tunisian participants, adding to the championship's appeal.

Al Salem expressed his gratitude to the championship sponsors. He also thanked the Mishref Cooperative Society for providing the courts at Mishref Walkway for the event.

He highlighted that the week-long championship included six men’s teams and four women’s teams, with matches officiated by referees accredited by the Basketball Federation.

Building on the success of this tournament, Al Salem announced plans to organize a basketball championship for children under 12, emphasizing the health benefits of such events and their role in positively engaging young players.
