KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: The Family Circuit of the Court of Appeals granted a woman the right to take decisions concerning her child’s health. This is the first ruling issued following an amendment to the Penal Code that had earlier limited this right to only the father, reports Al-Anba daily.

With this ruling, the Court of Appeals overturned the one issued by the lower court, which had rejected the case on the grounds that the amended law was preventing the mother’s authority concerning the health of her children. Representing the mother was Lawyer Mona Al-Arbash, who said the court’s ruling granted her client the right to take all necessary steps to treat her children in government and private hospitals and to travel with them for treatment outside the country.
