Women in Kuwait Lead in Driving Test Success

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Recent data from the Central Administration of Statistics revealed that 25,015 women applied for a driving license last year, with 18,618 passing and 6,397 failing,  25.57% was the failure rate. For the theoretical test, 20,060 women participated, of which 19,178 passed, while 882 failed, representing a 4.4% failure rate.

In contrast, 116,320 men took the practical driving test, with 80,878 passing and 35,442 failing, translating to a 30.46% failure rate. For the theoretical test, 93,701 men participated, of which 82,015 passed, while 11,686 failed, bringing the failure rate to 12%.

In total, 45,075 women took both theoretical and practical tests, with 37,796 passing and 7,279 failing, resulting in a 16% failure rate. Meanwhile, 210,021 men took the tests, with 162,893 passing and 47,128 failing, yielding a failure rate of 22.4%.

Breaking it down by nationality, 109,918 expats took the driving test, of which 71,115 passed and 38,803 failed, leading to a 35.31% failure rate. Meanwhile, 31,417 Kuwaiti citizens applied, with 28,381 passing and 3,036 failing, giving a 9.66% failure rate.

For the theoretical test, 83,681 expats took part, with 72,606 passing and 11,075 failing, resulting in a 13.22% failure rate. Among Kuwaiti citizens, 30,080 took the test, with 28,587 passing and 1,493 failing, reflecting a failure rate of 4.96%.

In 2023, 104,793 driving licenses were issued. By governorate, the distribution of licenses was as follows:
