KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: The emergency team of the Commercial Control Department of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, during a thorough inspection campaign at a shopping mall in the Al-Siddiq area has seized approximately 15,000 counterfeit items, including women’s handbags and shoes carrying well-known brand names. The offending shops were promptly shut down administratively and legal actions have been initiated against the shop owners.
Also, the Commercial and Precious Metals Control Team at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Farwaniya during an inspection tour of the shopping centers seized 100 counterfeit women’s handbags. The operation, termed part of the ‘1000 Days of Holiday’ program, was carried out during the Prophet’s birthday holiday by the so-called Tripartite Committee comprising officials from the ministries of Commerce and Interior and the Public Authority for Manpower.
Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the ministry, reported that the inspection, led by Mohammed Al-Mutairi from the Jabriya Commercial Control Center, uncovered counterfeit goods in three stores. The team also issued violation reports for not displaying signs regarding the ‘exchange’ and ‘return policy’. The offending shops were referred to the relevant authorities for further legal action. Al-Ansari emphasized the ministry’s commitment to combating violations and ensuring compliance with regulations. He assured that efforts to address such breaches and protect the interests of both citizens and residents would continue.
