World School Games kick off in Bahrain with strong Kuwaiti team participation

The Kuwaiti delegation holds a meeting on the eve of the opening ceremony.

MANAMA, Oct 24: Under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, the World School Games officially kicked off today in Bahrain, running until the 31st of this month. The athletics competitions often referred to as "the mother of all games," will feature 506 athletes from 44 countries. Representing Kuwait, Khalil Al-Qattan will compete in the high jump qualifiers, while Sayed Fakher Al-Qallaf will participate in the 100-meter race qualifiers. Abdullah Faisal and Yaqoub Al-Mashmoum will compete in the 800-meter race, and Ahmed Al-Enezi will take part in the 400-meter race.

In the judo competition qualifiers, four Kuwaiti athletes will participate: Sultan Al-Otaibi in the 50 kg weight category, Ali Al-Ramzi in the 55 kg category, Khaled Al-Kandari in the 60 kg category, and Mishari Marzouq in the 66 kg category. On Saturday, Anas Bouqmaz will compete in the 81 kg category, while Abdullah Al-Daihani will compete in the over 90 kg category.

Faisal Al-Maqseed, Chairman of the Kuwait School Sports Federation and Higher Education, along with Dr. Mutab Al-Mutairi, Acting General Supervisor of Physical Education at the Ministry of Education, held several meetings upon the delegation's arrival in Bahrain. These meetings focused on final preparations for the athletes, ensuring they have the best conditions to achieve success and win medals in their respective competitions.
