PARIS, Aug 4: Yaqoub Al-Youha concluded his participation in the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games, which run until the 11th of this month, after sustaining an injury at the second hurdle during the start of the 110m hurdles race. This injury prevented him from completing the race and competing for a spot in the semi-finals.
Athletics team coach, Badr Abbas, reported that Al-Youha suffered an adductor muscle injury, as confirmed by the medical report. Consequently, he will be unable to continue in the tournament's second chance qualifiers scheduled for today in the 110m hurdles race.
Abbas explained that Al-Youha had a strong start, but the injury while crossing the second hurdle led to his withdrawal from the competition. The adductor muscle injury requires rest and a specialized rehabilitation program for recovery, according to the final medical report. Previously, Al-Youha sustained an ankle injury last May, which sidelined him from major tournaments, including the Asian Indoor Games Championship and the West Asian Championship.
Today, national sailing team member Amina Shah will conclude her competitions in the (Alka 6) category race at the Marina of Marseille. After participating in eight races, she has two races remaining to complete her series of 10 races, which will determine her overall ranking in the competition.
Shah is the first Kuwaiti Gulf player to participate in the sailing race. She prepared for this historic event through external training camps and international tournaments in various countries over the past months to achieve the technical readiness needed for high-level competition. Shah's accomplishments include winning gold medals at the Alexandria Championships in Egypt, the Eastern Fleet in Saudi Arabia, and the Al-Bareh International in Bahrain.
