KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Yarmouk and Al-Nasr will go head-to-head today at 6:00 PM at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium in the opening match of the 15th round of the Zain Premier League.
The round continues tomorrow with two key matchups—Al-Qadsiya taking on Al-Tadamon, followed by Kazma facing Al-Fahaheel. The action concludes with Al-Salmiya meeting Khaitan, while Al-Arabi squares off against Kuwait Club in the round’s marquee clash.
With Al-Nasr sitting ninth with six points and Yarmouk at the bottom in tenth with five points, today's match is pivotal in their battle to avoid relegation to the First Division.
Both teams enter the fixture with similar struggles, having suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat to Kuwait Club in its last two rounds. Yarmouk has yet to secure a single victory this season, while Al-Nasr has only one win, a narrow 1-0 triumph over Kazma. Notably, Yarmouk's coach, Dhaher Al-Adwani, previously led Al-Nasr before parting ways due to past administrative issues.
A draw would not serve either team well, as their first meeting this season ended in a 2-2 stalemate. With just four rounds left before the league splits into the title race (top six teams) and the relegation battle (bottom four), every point is crucial.
In the Zain First Division League, Al-Shabab solidified its position at the top after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al-Sahel in the seventh round. Meanwhile, Burgan clinched a narrow 1-0 win in a tense encounter at Al-Shabab’s stadium.
Al-Shabab now leads the standings with 11 points, three ahead of second-placed Al-Jahra, which has played one game fewer. Al-Sahel remains in third place with seven points, level with Burgan in fourth. Al-Sulaibikhat, meanwhile, dropped to the bottom of the table with five points following its latest defeat.
