The eveningwear collection pays homage to the '“'incredible strength'”' of the women in Yousef Akbar’s life.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct 22, (Agencies): Riyadh Fashion Week witnessed a dazzling display of creativity as Saudi designer Yousef Akbar unveiled his captivating Spring/Summer 2024 collection, titled "SHIFT // REBIRTH." Akbar's eveningwear collection, showcased in the vibrant setting of the King Abdullah Financial District, paid a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable strength of women who have inspired the designer.

The collection featured a sophisticated interplay of monochromatic tones, skillfully manipulating texture and form. Bright neon accents made bold appearances, either taking center stage or playfully peeking beneath graceful gowns and flowing dresses.

Akbar's signature draped gown, complete with integrated gloves, received a fresh interpretation, this time in jersey fabric and fashionable lilac and blush shades. For those seeking a boardroom-appropriate aesthetic, an all-neon-green ensemble wowed the audience with wide-legged pants complemented by a striking train, all elegantly paired with a draped jacket.

A fabric that stole the spotlight was the beaded taffeta, adorning gathered gowns enhanced by built-in corsets and high-low skirts. These were thoughtfully matched with diameter tops and lycra stockings, creating a captivating visual contrast.

A note on the collection's official Instagram accounts beautifully stated, "With each garment, we celebrate the uniqueness and power of women today, as they claim their rightful place in the world, redefine boundaries, and ignite a revolution of strength, grace, and unwavering spirit."

Adding to the show's allure, two remarkable collaborations took center stage. Firstly, Akbar partnered with Singapore-based jewelry brand Boheme SG, adorning models with delicate, hand-made, gold-plated brass orchid accessories. These exquisite pieces, from oversized necklaces and earrings to strategically placed brooches and stems accentuating draped gowns, symbolized both femininity and fertility, according to the designer's vision.

The second collaboration featured models gracing the open-air runway in striking eyewear from the Saudi homegrown brand Hazel Optics.

Yousef Akbar, a designer celebrated by celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Alicia Keys, Chrissy Teigen, and Nicole Kidman, established his eponymous label in 2016 and operates from a design studio in Sydney. His remarkable talent was also recognized with the Fashion Trust Arabia award in 2020.
