YouTube rolls out "Brainstorm with Gemini" in limited test to improve video planning.

NEW YORK, Aug 8: YouTube is testing a new feature called "Brainstorm with Gemini," designed to assist creators in generating video ideas, titles, and thumbnails by integrating Google's AI technology. The announcement was made via a video on YouTube's Creator Insider channel.

A YouTube spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a limited experiment. The company plans to gather feedback from these creators before making a decision on a broader rollout.

The new tool aims to give YouTube a competitive edge over other social media video platforms by offering unique AI-driven brainstorming capabilities. This move aligns with Google's strategy to integrate its AI tools into its platforms, potentially attracting creators who might otherwise use competing services like OpenAI's ChatGPT.

"Brainstorm with Gemini" builds on an earlier AI-powered content inspiration tool tested by YouTube in May, which helps creators generate video topic ideas and outlines. The new feature allows creators to use Google's Gemini AI to brainstorm content ideas and provides an alternative to the existing inspiration tool.

Creators involved in the experiment can access the feature through YouTube Studio. They can enter a video idea into the search bar and choose between the existing inspiration tool and the new Gemini integration. YouTube is assessing whether creators prefer the Gemini-based brainstorming or the previous inspiration tool.

While platforms like TikTok and Instagram focus on generative AI for creating digital avatars, YouTube is concentrating on using AI to enhance content creation.
