Organized by the Computer Science Department at the College of Science, Kuwait University, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Youth and the Ministry of Education, this year’s competition saw the participation of over 800 passionate students. Four teams secured qualification for the VEX Robotics World Championship to be held in the United States.
The awards ceremony was held at the Kuwait University Conference Center in Al-Shadadiya, under the patronage and presence of H.E. In his speech during the event, Nawaf Al-Gharabally stated: “As it concludes its second edition, the Kuwait National Robotics Competition has once again solidified its position as one of the most distinguished and professional educational initiatives in Kuwait.”
He continued: “The competition has played a vital role in fostering students’ passion for technology, sparking their creativity and innovation. These are the very objectives we have sought to achieve at Zain through our strategic partnership with the competition since its inception last year.”
Al-Gharabally further remarked: “Over the past months, we have witnessed remarkable ideas from young participants who have excelled in the field of robotics. We have great confidence that Kuwait’s digital future will be bright with their contributions. We firmly believe that our young men and women are fully capable of leading the next era of challenges amid the rapid technological transformations shaping our world.”
He concluded by expressing gratitude: “We extend our sincere appreciation to our colleagues at the Computer Science Department, Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Youth, and all partners for their tremendous efforts in making this competition a success. At Zain, we are proud of this partnership, which exemplifies the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing Kuwait’s progress and nurturing its talented youth under the guidance of our wise leadership.”
During the ceremony, Zain honored the winners across all competition categories and presented its Innovation Nation Award to the team from Kuwait Technical College (Ktech). Additionally, four teams from the Kuwait National Robotics Competition have secured their spots in the VEX Robotics World Championship to be held soon in the United States.
The teams who have qualified are Superheroes from Al-Adailiya School (Elementary level), ABS Team A from American Baccalaureate School (Middle school level), Robotech from Salah Al-Din School (High school level), and Autovortex from Bucharest University of Economic Studies (University level).
This year, Zain returned as a strategic partner for the second season of the Kuwait National Robotics Competition, collaborating with the Computer Science Department, the Public Authority for Youth, and the Ministry of Education.
The company witnessed outstanding success in this edition, which attracted over 800 students across different educational levels, forming 170 teams that competed in four main categories: marine robotics, drones, innovation challenge, and the flagship VEX Robotics competition.
The competition played a key role in cultivating students’ passion for technology, enhancing their creative thinking skills, and guiding them toward future career paths in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
This strategic partnership falls under the umbrella of Innovation Nation, an initiative that encompasses all of Zain’s efforts to support innovation, develop technical skills, and empower entrepreneurship within the community. The initiative specifically targets young students and entrepreneurs through year-round programs in collaboration with several strategic partners.
