Zain joins in honoring winners of Kuwait CyberChamps Competition

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: Zain participated in honoring the winners of the Kuwait CyberChamps Competition as part of its strategic partnership with the event. The competition was organized by IDRAK Training and Consultancy at Kuwait University in collaboration with the Public Education Sector of the Ministry of Education, represented by the General Supervisory of Computing, and with the support of the National Cybersecurity Center. The contest came under the patronage and attendance of H.E. the Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei.

Zain joined in honoring the top three winning teams in the competition: Team MPSG, which secured first place; Team Zero Day Hunters, which came in second; and Team Security Champs, which took third place. Each team comprised five students, and Zain Kuwait’s Enterprise Risk Management Department Manager, Faisal Al-Ali, participated as a judge in the competition’s evaluation panel.

The competition saw the participation of 100 students from various public and private schools across the middle and high school levels. It aimed to enhance students’ technological skills and empower them to face future digital challenges.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Zain Kuwait’s Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer, Waleed Al-Khashti, expressed his pride in Zain’s support to the competition. He stated: “I am honored and proud of Zain’s strategic partnership with the Kuwait CyberChamps Competition. Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting outstanding educational endeavors that empower the next generation with the skills and capabilities needed to overcome the challenges of our fast-paced world.”

He added: “I would like to extend my gratitude to IDRAK, the Ministry of Education, and the National Cybersecurity Center for their tremendous efforts in making this initiative a success. Their dedication reflects Kuwait’s strong commitment to digitally empowering youth. This partnership serves as a remarkable example of effective collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing the nation’s developmental goals.”

Al-Khashti further elaborated: “This partnership falls under our Innovation Nation initiative, which encompasses all our efforts in supporting creativity and fostering technical skills, with a focus on building a capable generation that can efficiently lead Kuwait’s digital future.”

He continued: “Today, it is crucial to have educational programs that cultivate a sustainable societal culture about the risks of fraud and cybercrime, especially among students. With the rapid advancement of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, our world has become increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats. Instilling cybersecurity awareness in our youth will better prepare them to assume future responsibilities and address challenges effectively.”

He concluded: “At Zain, many of our initiatives focus on youth and education, aligning with the accelerating shift of the economy and education sectors toward digital fields. That is why developing programming and digital skills among youth is a top priority for us. We commend the organizers of this competition for delivering it in such an exceptional manner and wish all participants and winners a bright future ahead.”

This strategic partnership falls under Zain’s Innovation Nation initiative, which encompasses all the company’s efforts dedicated to supporting innovation, technical skill development, and entrepreneurship in society. It particularly focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, which have become essential for modern job markets. The initiative aims to build a highly skilled generation capable of leading Kuwait’s digital transformation efficiently.

The competition aimed to foster a sustainable culture of cybersecurity awareness among middle and high school students passionate about programming, cybersecurity, and technological innovation. It also sought to develop their skills across various technical fields, integrating education, competition, and innovation to create a platform for nurturing Kuwait’s future cybersecurity experts.

Through interactive activities, educational events, and training camps, students were provided with the tools and opportunities needed to enhance their digital talents. The competition also allowed them to engage with industry experts, helping them explore potential career paths in cybersecurity.
