KUWAIT CITY, Apr 22: For the second time, Zain organized a beach cleanup awareness initiative using the smart robot ‎BeBot, in collaboration with the Environment Public Authority. The initiative aimed to invest in ‎advanced technological solutions to build a more sustainable future and to harness innovation ‎in contributing to the protection of Kuwait’s environment.‎

BeBot is the first robot of its kind in Kuwait. It performs sand raking and filtering, detects and ‎collects buried waste, gathers seaweed, levels beach surfaces, and lifts loads. It is also capable ‎of navigating rough terrains.‎

The initiative successfully collected 13 bags of waste in a short time at the Sharq beach. The ‎waste included over 300 grams of plastic water bottles, more than 2,400 grams of plastic caps, ‎over 400 grams of metal cans, nearly 4,000 grams of broken glass, and more than 6,000 grams ‎of general waste.‎

The robot is designed to preserve plant and animal life during the raking process. It operates ‎entirely on electricity using renewable energy through solar panels, which means it produces ‎zero carbon emissions.‎

Zain remains committed to building a comprehensive program that aligns its operational ‎processes with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company places climate change ‎action as one of the main pillars of its sustainability strategy and is dedicated to reducing ‎energy consumption and minimizing emissions by improving environmental performance in the ‎workplace and raising awareness of environmental care.‎
