KUWAIT CITY, July 16: The head of the Kuwaiti Fishermen’s Union, Dhaher Al-Suwayan, announced the start of the fishing season for Zubaidi fish in Kuwaiti territorial waters, starting from Saturday, after the end of the fishing ban period.
Al-Suwayan said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the decision to prevent seasonal fishing aims to protect and develop the fish stock and give the opportunity and time to breed Zubaidi fish. He stressed the importance of adhering to the laws regulating fishing in order to preserve and protect fisheries from extinction, calling for a review of the support provided to the fish sector to ensure food security and the sustainability of fish resources as a strong pillar of the national economy.
