KUWAIT CITY, April 26: The head of the Kuwait Society of Engineers, Eng. Faisal Al-Atal, said more than 12,000 expatriate engineers have been struck off the list of registered engineers either because their degrees have not been accredited by the concerned authorities or these engineers have refused to take the exams prepared by the society. Eng Al-Atal told the Al-Seyassah daily that the issue puts the society in a dilemma because the government has yet to take a decision on the issue.

Since a majority of the degrees have not been accredited, he said, the society does not exactly know the number of ‘fake’ degrees. The society has also discovered a fraud in the ‘To Whom It May Concern certificates’ issued by the society. These were discovered and the suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution. “According to our knowledge a number of them have left the country before cases against them were filed with the Prosecution.”
