Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, Bahrain, Turkey, Beirut and Egypt favored destinations
KUWAIT CITY, May 11: With the beginning of Eid Al Fitr holidays Kuwait International Airport came back to life. Departure gates were crowded by travellers who wanted to spend their time on vacation in tourist destination spots. It has been more than a year since the Corona pandemic has disrupted the moment except for emergency or special flights.
With the gradual opening of Kuwait Airport, air traffic witnessed especially departure flights with the majority of travellers who wanted to spend their vacation abroad. The most favored destinations were Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, Bahrain, Turkey and Egypt via transit flights.
The Director of Operations at the General Administration of Civil Aviation, Mansour Al-Hashemi stated that 349 flights will depart and arrive in these four days from Wednesday until Sunday, reports Al Rai. Most favoured destinations are Dubai, Doha, Riyadh, Bahrain, Turkey, Egypt and Beirut. Kuwait International Airport recorded the departure of 350,134 passengers on 3,630 flights, whereas 193,151 arrived in Kuwait. Despite the Coronavirus crisis which caused cancellation of flights and reservations, strict health requirements by some countries we are now witnessing a turnout of those wishing to spend vacation abroad.
Kuwait International Airport is still operating with 10 percent of its capacity, and only Kuwaiti citizens and their first degree relatives are allowed to use it. As for expats, they are prohibited from entering Kuwait except for Domestic workers, Medical personnel, oil workers of Kuwait Oil Company, the Judiciary. The DGCA has implemented all the decisions laid by the Council of Ministers and health authorities.
