KUWAIT CITY, May 17: The General Residency Affairs Investigation Department in the Interior Ministry received information about a bogus domestic labor office managed by an Egyptian. According to the informant, the office shelters absconding domestic workers who are referred to new sponsors after paying a certain amount. The office issues fake receipts to the workers once the payment is done for the transaction to appear legitimate.

Once the information was verified, a team of investigators took legal action, leading to the arrest of 20 Ethiopians and the Egyptian manager of the office. The team later discovered that the arrested individuals are wanted by law for involvement in criminal and absconding cases. On the other hand, the Public Relations and Security Media Department reiterated its call on citizens and expatriates to refrain from providing shelter to absconding workers in order to avoid legal problems.

8 held in vice den: The Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh police recently raided an apartment in the area and arrested eight Ethiopians — four men and four women — for indulging in immoral activities, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the raid came following a tip-off from an unidentified source. All those arrested have been referred to the Deportation Center.

‘5-star’ thieves caught: Securitymen have arrested two Saudi brothers for breaking into shops in Salmiya and Jabriya and committing 27 thefts, reports Al-Rai daily. According to reports, the men who stayed in five-star hotels, usually broke into the shops at dawn. The daily added, one of the suspects was arrested after the Forensics department lifted the fingerprints from a crime scene.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the charge and gave the name of his brother. It has been reported the men paid for their accommodation in advance. Police records show one of the brothers has been continuously residing in Kuwait for the past five years. Police have seized from him some of the stolen goods.

For public order: Ahmadi Governorate Security Command conducted a series of security and traffic campaigns in Ali Sabah Al-Salem. In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media Department in the Interior Ministry said Director of Ahmadi Security Command Brigadier Abdullah Saffah supervised the campaigns, as part of the ministry’s strategy to arrest outlaws and ensure public order.

The campaigns led to the impounding of 40 vehicles, issuance of 166 citations for various traffic violations, arrest of 35 people who failed to present valid identification documents and five others wanted by law for absconding. In addition, the department affirmed the continuation of security campaigns throughout the country, while emphasizing the vital role played by citizens and expatriates in boosting security efforts by refraining from providing shelter or covering up anyone who violated the law. It also stressed the need for everyone to carry their identification documents at all times.

2 held with drugs: Two Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in Mangaf area in possession of narcotic pills, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, Private Taskforce officers were patrolling Mangaf area when they noticed a vehicle being driven recklessly. After demanding the driver to pull over, the officers checked their civil IDs to discover they are Kuwaiti citizens. They checked the vehicle and found three sachets of narcotic pills. The citizens were arrested and referred with the narcotic pills to General Department for Drugs Control for necessary legal action.

Certificates forged: Investigation officers from the Residency Affairs Department arrested three expatriates for forging salary certificates and work permits submitted to banks and financial institutions to obtain loans, reports Al-Shahid daily.

Director General of the department Brigadier Saoud Al-Khedr received information that the three expatiates are involved in illegal transactions such as forging official documents at a price of KD 300 per transaction. He immediately formed a team tasked to put the suspects under surveillance.

After ascertaining the information, the team raided the place where the suspects were caught red-handed with computers, forgery tools and six fake documents in their possession. All three suspects were referred to the concerned security unit, along with the confiscated items, for the necessary legal measures.

Actress robbed: Police are looking for an unidentified thief who is said to have stolen the jewelry worth KD  250,000 from the home of a well-known actress living in Salwa, reports Al-Qabas daily. The actress has pointed a finger of accusation at her maid who is reported absconding. The daily added, the maid’s name and picture has been circulated at all and exit points. In the meantime, personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
