KUWAIT CITY, June 6: A Srilankan expatriate was arrested for murdering an Asian woman and burning her corpse with the help of a compatriot and two Pakistani expatriates last January. According to security sources, General Department for Criminal Investigations carried out investigations over the murder of an Asian woman whose charred corpse was found inside a burnt vehicle between Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Abdullah Mubarak areas in January.
Their investigations lead to the discovery that two Sri Lankans and two Pakistanis had sexual relations with her and they eventually decided to get rid of her when she became pregnant. One of the suspects, a Sri Lankan, was arrested in Andalous area after a trap was set for him to emerge from his hiding place. He confessed to killing the woman and burning her corpse with the help of three other individuals eight days before her corpse was discovered.
He revealed that two of his accomplices are of Pakistani nationality and the other is a Sri Lankan who works as a cleaning supervisor in Sabah Hospital, adding that one of the Pakistani suspects left Kuwait while the other was deported from Kuwait in March.
The suspect explained that he and the others used to have sexual relations with the victim. When she became pregnant, his Sri Lankan accomplice brought a medicine that will aid in miscarriage. However, they decided by then to kill the woman and therefore did not use the medicine.
They murdered the woman in the house of one of the Pakistani suspects in Hasawi area after which they placed her corpse inside a vehicle and set it on fire in order to destroy all evidences. The suspect was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
