KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5:  The cabinet held an extraordinary meeting this evening at Seif Palace under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled Al - Hamad Al- Sabah , Prime Minister After the meeting , Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al - Mohammad Al - Sabah.

The Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basil Hammoud Al-Sabah explained to the cabinet the latest developments in the health situation in the country, which is still witnessing a continuous decline in the number of cases of infections and deaths, the percentage of beds in hospitals, and the number of people receiving treatment in intensive care. The Council also took note of the efforts made by the Ministry of Health to accelerate vaccination campaign in the country, where he explained to the Council that the National Vaccination Campaign is currently giving 100,000 vaccination appointments per day after increasing the capacity of the vaccination centers which has reached more than 100 vaccination centers throughout the country, in order to reach the larger segment of registered people in different parts of the country to achieve immunity.

The Council of Ministers studied the recommendations made by the health authorities

  1. Approve all Govt offices to return to work from 15th Aug 2021
  2. Allowing travel for non vaccinated Kuwait citizens for only following categories
    A. Age group who are not subjected to vaccinations
    B. Citizens who have obtained certificate from the Ministry of Health for health reasons should be excluded as of 1st Sep 2021

The Cabinet expressed its deep thanks to all employees of the Ministry of Health, including medical, technical and administrative staff, led by the Minister of Health, Dr. Sheikh Basil Hammoud Al-Sabah, for the tremendous efforts they are making to confront the Coronavirus.

The Council of Ministers discussed the mechanism for following up on government projects that are completed or implemented. The Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Khalifa Musaed Hamadeh reviewed for the council some vital projects being implemented by some companies owned by the General Investment Authority.

The Council also thanked all citizens and expats for their cooperation in implementing the requirements issued by the health authorities. He expressed his hope that efforts would continue to complete the vaccination of all groups eligible for the vaccine in order to reach community immunity in preparation for a return to a safe, normal life in the country.
