KUWAIT CITY, Aug 2, (KUNA): The Cabinet held its weekly meeting Monday afternoon at Seif Palace headed by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister. After the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al- Sabah stated the following: On the occasion of the thirty first anniversary of the crime of the brutal Iraqi invasion of the State of Kuwait, the State of Kuwait, the leadership and people, recall with pain and bitterness the heinous crime of treachery at the dawn of the second of August 1990, and recall with appreciation and gratitude the prominent role played by His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the late father Amir Sheikh Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, may God bless them, for their efforts to restore the State of Kuwait to its freedom and expel the sinful aggressor, thanks to God and the help of brothers and friends and their remarkable efforts and achievements in the reconstruction of the country at a record speed with the help of the loyal people of this country.
The Cabinet approved today, the proposal of the Civil Service Commission to suspend work in all ministries, government agencies, and public bodies and institutions next Sunday and Monday on the occasion of the New Islamic Year. The decision, which was published by Government Communication Center on the social networking site (Twitter), stated that Sunday, August 8, will be a holiday. He also added that Monday, August 9, 2021, will be the New Hijri Year holiday for the year 1443 AH (official holiday).
The Cabinet also expressed great pride and pride in the manifestations of national cohesion between all segments of Kuwaiti society since the first moment of the brutal invasion and heroic steadfastness in the face of the occupation and its brutal practices and adherence to its legitimacy and homeland, recalling hundreds of selves for the sake of the elevation of this dear country and the integrity of its lands. The State of Kuwait is still receiving their remains from Iraq, asking the Almighty to have mercy on them and keep them under his mercy.
The State of Kuwait also recalls with appreciation and gratitude the role of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the rest of its brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council and friends, and their benevolent and blessed efforts that contributed to liberating it from the clutches of the brutal occupation, which, had a decisive role in defeating aggression, supporting the Kuwaiti right and consolidating the rules of legitimacy. He called on the Almighty to protect the State of Kuwait from all harm and perpetuate the blessing of security and safety in the shadow of the leader of our march, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the country, may God protect him and his patrons, and His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince, may God protect him.
On the other hand, His Highness the Prime Minister, in his name and on behalf of his sister and brothers the ministers, offered his sincere congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God preserve and protect him, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and to the honorable Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the approaching arrival of the Hijri New Year 1443 AH, asking God Almighty to restore this occasion to the State of Kuwait and the Arab and Islamic nations with goodwill.
Then the Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser briefed the Cabinet on the results of the visit of the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, and the content of his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Nawaf, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal and the talks dealt with ways to develop the historic friendly relations existing between the two countries as they celebrate the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of relations between the two countries at all levels and 30 years since the liberation of the State of Kuwait.
Views were also exchanged on issues of common interest and efforts exerted. To enhance security and stability in the region His Excellency also briefed the Cabinet on the results of the talks he held with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, who is visiting the country, the talk dealt with the important role of the State of Kuwait with regard to multilateral diplomacy, humanitarian efforts, conflict prevention, regional issues, the implementation of sustainable development goals, in addition to international efforts to combat the coronavirus and the guarantee of vaccines for all.
The Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basil Hammoud Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on the results of the visit made to the country by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, last Tuesday, which aimed to discuss ways to enhance aspects of joint cooperation to serve humanitarian work, as he paid an inspection visit to Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital and the Kuwait Vaccination Center.
