KUWAIT CITY, March 28: The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Monday held its weekly meeting, led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at Seif Palace, and deplored the recent attacks launched by Houthis on Saudi Arabia. At the onset of the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister, on behalf of all ministers, expressed greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti people and expats on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. Afterwards, Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on the results of his participation in the 48th session of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states' foreign ministers held in Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Al-Fares said after the meeting.
The OIC FMs' meeting discussed escalation of dangerous challenges facing the world and the Muslim nation as well as some other issues of common concern, including combating Islamophobia, and enhancing coordination and cooperation to achieve the utmost unity and solidarity amongst the member states, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser told the Cabinet. During the OIC gathering, Kuwait was elected, by unanimity, as head the OIC human rights commission for a second term, due to its leading role in boosting human rights, basic freedoms and the rule of law.
The minister further informed the Cabinet about the gist of the meetings he held with his counterparts of the sisterly and friendly countries that discussed bilateral ties and other topics of common concern. In addition, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser briefed the ministers on the outcomes of his visit to Qatar where he attended Doha Forum as representative of His Highness the Prime Minister, and the results of the visit of Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
Sheikh Ahmad Nasser informed the Cabinet about his talks with the guest on bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of bolstering them in different fields to achieve the common interests, as well as other topics of common concern. Moreover, the Cabinet dealt with the National Assembly affairs and was apprised of the agenda's topics of the parliament. In addition, the Cabinet voiced Kuwait's strong condemnation and denunciation of the "terrorist" cowardly booby-trapped drone attacks launched by Houthis on the central, eastern and western provinces of Saudi Arabia, Al-Fares, who is also Oil Minister, said. The Cabinet stressed this terrorist act targets not only civilians, the civil areas, Saudi Arabia's security and the region's stability, but also the global energy supplies at a time when the world is seeking to support these supplies and ensure their flow.
It urged the international community to take a rapid and decisive action in order to deter these attacks, and hold the perpetrators accountable. Meanwhile, the Cabinet expressed Kuwait's condemnation and denunciation of the terror explosion that targeted a complex near Mogadishu international airport that contains the UN and some foreign diplomatic missions. The blast killed and injured some people. The Cabinet affirmed Kuwait's support to Somalia in all measures it takes to eradicate terrorism. It emphasized Kuwait's firm and principled stance rejecting violence and terror, offering sincere condolences to the relatives of victims and wishing a rapid recovery to those injured. (KUNA)
