MoI officer & 6 Egyptians referred to Prosecution in human peddling

KUWAIT CITY, April 16: A police officer affiliated to Ministry of Interior and six Egyptian expatriates have been referred to Public Prosecution after a case of human trafficking was filed against them.

The victims said they gave up all their life savings to get a visa to Kuwait and work here but they discovered after coming to Kuwait that they was no work, and they were left on the streets to look for work.

According to informed sources, the Capital Prosecution yesterday heard the testimonies of 24 laborers registered under the company. These workers said they were unable to find jobs in Kuwait, and were cheated by brokers of their nationality. They said they were granted visa under the sponsorship of Al-Dapet Company. These workers demanded for their rights, and punishment for those who cheated them.

The sources said Public Prosecution officials rushed to the headquarters of the company and discovered that the company has 16 branches, and on this basis, the workers were brought to Kuwait. Attorney General Dherar Al-Asousi ordered the detention of the police officer and the six Egyptians for completing investigations.
