KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang said that since the outbreak of the new epidemic of pneumonia caused by the new Corona virus last December, the Chinese government has taken strict and effective measures to prevent and control the virus under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping reports Al Rai
He said in press statements yesterday that the work to combat the epidemic is proceeding in a scientific, organized and accurate manner, and progress has been gradually reached in this area.
He noted that the Chinese government pursues openness, transparency and a great sense of responsibility, and informs the World Health Organization and other countries and regions of the epidemic information without delay.
The Chinese ambassador added that his country is currently going through a critical period to prevent and control the outbreak of the new Corona virus, noting that although the confirmed cases have increased, the recovery rate has also increased.
He pointed out that in light of the current situation, the epidemic is treatable, preventable and controllable.
He expressed his confidence in his country's ability to win the battle against the epidemic as quickly as possible, to protect the safety and health of the Chinese people.
He said that the Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr. Tedros highly appreciated the strict and effective measures adopted by the Chinese counterpart to contain the spread of the virus, which contribute to significantly reducing the speed of the spread of the disease to other countries.
Confirming his confidence that China will win the battle against the epidemic.
He clarified that since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Chinese embassy has maintained close contact with the relevant Kuwaiti authorities, including the foreign and health ministries, and has surrounded the Kuwaiti side with information as soon as possible. There is also continuous communication between the two sides regarding mutual visits between the two peoples.
The Chinese ambassador said "We have noted the measures taken by Kuwait to prevent and control the spread of the virus, and we understand its concern".
But as stated by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros, we must maintain rigidity and rationality in the current situation, and there is no need to exaggerate the reaction, stressing that it is not preferable to impose restrictions on travel to or trade with China.
He expressed his hope that the Kuwaiti side will guarantee normal exchange and trade cooperation with China and support the Chinese side in the work of fighting the epidemic steadily.
