KUWAIT CITY, April 16: The Criminal Court rejected a request to release on bail a Kuwaiti woman and her husband who was accused of killing their Filipina domestic worker (housemaid) inside their home.
According to the case files, the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior had received a report from the emergency medical unit at Al- Sabah Hospital that a housemaid was brought to the hospital by her sponsor and she died upon arrival, and that there were many bruises on several parts of the body, indicating criminal suspicion.
The forensics report revealed that the victim was a citizen of the Philippines, and her death was attributed to the bruises she sustained.
This prompted the officers to detain the sponsor who later admitted that his wife had beaten the maid until the latter lost consciousness.
She was rushed to the hospital but the victim, upon arrival, had succumbed to her injuries. The detectives and forensic experts went to the citizen’s home, and found evidences that the maid was beaten.
