KUWAIT CITY, July 5: Kuwait's Ministry of Health on Monday said that 1,977 people were infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours, taking the caseload to 365,649. As many as 1,841 people cured of the disease in the same period, pushing the total recoveries up to 345,106, Ministry's Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA. The death toll from the virus climbed to 2,029 after registering 12 mortalities, including 11 unvaccinated, in the corresponding period, he stated. He said that over 19,500 patients are being treated at hospitals, in addition to 303 cases at the intensive care units. Medical swabs conducted in 24 hours hit 15,209, bringing the total to 3,049,341, he said, indicating that the ratio between recoveries to swabs is 12.9 percent today. Al-Sanad renewed his call for both citizens and residents to abide by health precautions and physical distancing, as well as avoid gatherings. He further urged the public to follow up official accounts of the ministry, and the bodies' guidelines and recommendations in order to control the spread of the virus.
