KUWAIT CITY, March 31: Citizens’ commitment to social distancing is higher than that of the expatriates and the number of epidemiological investigations has increased the need for intensifying control over the areas populated by expatriates through awareness and educational messages in their languages, reports Al-Anba daily.

The study conducted by a professor at the College of Engineering and Petroleum in Kuwait University, Dr Salah Al- Mudhahi, concluded that the new coronavirus infection is 10 percent lower than expected if the curfew is not imposed after one week of the ‘partial ban’.

He pointed out this ratio is not encouraging, considering the recent increase in epidemiological investigations. The study stated that the decisions to close schools, cancel the fingerprint system, close government agencies and outlets were not successful; while the partial ban succeeded, albeit at unfavorable rate, in reducing infections. It indicated that cases have been excluded for returnees from abroad since March 25 due to the application of institutional quarantine; such that they should not mix with citizens and expatriates.
