KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: The remains of a Filipina were found inside a freezer at an apartment in Al-Shaab area. The body, believed to have been kept inside the freezer for over one year, was uncovered shortly after the Filipino government suspended the recruitment of workers to Kuwait amid threats of withdrawing those who are currently working in the country.
Security operatives who discovered the crime had gone to the apartment to evict the tenant based on a court order, and when they entered the place alongside the landlord and caretaker of the building, they were surprised to find the corpse inside the freezer.
The officers quickly notified their colleagues at the General Department of Criminal Evidences to deposit the body to Forensics for autopsy in order to determine the cause and exact time of death. Samples of fingerprints were lifted at the scene to facilitate investigation.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that the Lebanese sponsor of the housemaid was wanted for a series of cases related to dud cheques, and he had left Kuwait since 2016 with the Syrian wife. There were traces on the deceased housemaid’s body indicating she was strangled to death amid torture.
