KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: On Sunday, Dec 18, the Health Insurance Hospitals Company (Dhaman) celebrated the completion of the construction of its hospital in Ahmadi Governorate. The construction of this hospital represents an important step towards achieving the company’s strategy aimed at completing its health system and providing the best medical services, reports Al-Rai daily. The celebration took place in the presence of the Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority Ghanim Al-Ghunaiman, the Ambassador of China to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei, and the President of the Kuwait Medical Association Dr. Ibrahim Al Tawalah.
The ceremony was attended by a number of members of the Board of Directors and executive management of Dhaman Company, many senior officials in state agencies and the Ahmadi Governorate, and the CEO of the Central Department Company, the strategic medical contractor for Dhaman Hospitals, Dr. Ziyad Olayan, in addition to several senior economic and medical figures. It is worth highlighting that the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Jianwei participated in the celebration.
In his speech, he affirmed that the inauguration of the building was the result of concerted efforts between Dhaman Company and the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) over the past years, which is evidence of the Chinese side’s push to harmonize the “Belt and Road” initiative, and the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, and to deepen cooperation between the two parties. In his speech, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Mutlaq Mubarak Al-Sanea said, “The hospital is an essential element in our plan to establish an integrated health system, which includes hospitals with capacity of approximately 660 beds, and a number of primary health care centers distributed in various governorates to serve the national strategy for health care in the country.” Al-Sanea stressed that the event is not specific to the company, but represents an important contribution and addition to the health sector, in the context of Dhaman’s vision for its role in raising the indicators of the health sector and leadership in the development of this vital sector in Kuwait.
He explained that Dhaman seeks to find a solid health base to establish sustainable health development, keeping pace with Kuwait’s interest in developing the medical system, transferring technology and providing the best medical devices, pharmaceutical industries and vaccines, and to improve the health services provided to citizens and residents.
The hospital will be operated with the cooperation of an international operator experienced in managing a health system of this size. It is the Spanish company Ribera Salud, which is an expert in providing health care for more than 30 years in Spain and a number of other countries. Managing Director of Kuwait Investment Authority Ghanim Al-Ghunaiman said, “The health insurance hospitals project is part of the development plan. Perhaps it is unique in the aspect that it is directed towards improving the level of services of the health care sector, which is considered one of the most important sectors of the national economy. Huge amounts of financial resources are directed to it annually from the general budget of the state.
