KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13: This weekend on Friday and Saturday, a large number of Filipino expats flocked to Kuwaiti Disabled Sports Club in the Hawally area to complete their consular transactions.
The Philippine Ambassador Mohamed Noordin Pendosina Lomondot stated that more than 15,000 had applied for renewal of passports as due to closures during the corona pandemic in the country and due to transfer of embassy. There has been strong turnout by the Filipino community to renew their passports during these days so that they would not pay for violations, reports Al Rai. He pointed out that the consular section in the embassy is working in full swing to meet the needs of everyone. On Friday 1,200 transactions were completed and 1,600 transactions on Saturday were completed.
He further stated that for issuing passports, approval from the competent authorities in the Philippines is needed and this matter takes a long time so the passports of Kuwait’s Filipino expats are extended so that they can renew their residency without violations.
He stated that the new building of the embassy will be in the Messila area next to the Jumeirah Hotel, but it will not be ready for delivery for about 5 months. He expressed thanks to Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for providing facilities for the embassy and for the Filipino community.
