KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: The Directorate- General of Fire Services (DGFS) has announced it has taken all legal measures against one of its employees who has allegedly embezzled two million dinars of public money, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added, the Attorney- General has been informed of the ‘theft’ and the suspect has been arrested and is in police custody. The DGFS in a statement has denounced the incident, saying it has formed a committee to go to the depth of the issue and is taking active steps to recover the money in coordination with the Public Prosecution. The sources said as soon as the incident was discovered, the DGFS, in less than 8 hours, took the necessary steps and informed the Public Prosecutor and the employee was seized from his workplace.

The sources indicated the incident was discovered by the Financial Affairs (payroll) Department after checking the salaries of employees before posting them through the integrated civil service information system. According to the statement, one of the civil employees appointed as an accounts clerk in the salaries department embezzled the public money by depositing money on his salary item and approving it before sending them to the concerned banks
