KUWAIT CITY, March 4: The Ministry of Interior will not tolerate anyone who promotes rumors, disturbs the tranquility and security of the country in general by publishing false information or inciting a certain group of citizens or residents against another in light of the current situation, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting security sources.

The sources told the daily, the security authorities are closely monitoring ‘everything’ and is keeping a tap on the social media. The same sources said some of those who instigated a certain class of citizens and residents against another were called in for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the sources pointed out personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department is verifying the audio messages posted in the social media over the past 24 hours on the WhatsApp application saying the Iranian women are making rounds in the market and allegedly touching clothes and other products but do not buy anything and that some of the outlets even expel them from their shops after spotting them on the CCTV cameras for fear of the virus being spread.

The sources said instructions that have been issued by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh, and the undersecretary of the Ministry Lieutenant-General Issam Al-Naham, are clear and explicit and that the law be applied on everyone without discrimination “because no one is above the law.”

The sources indicated the Ministry of Interior spares no efforts to combat rumor mongers and says it has a list of fi ctitious accounts that have attempted to spread lies, accusations, exposed public fi gures and undermined the stability.
