KUWAIT CITY, April 11: Director General of Kuwait Municipality Eng Ahmed Al-Manfouhi said the Municipality collected fines amounting to KD 27,396,000 since the approval of the executive regulations of law number 33/2016 until March 8, 2021, reports Al-Rai daily.

This information is included in the response of Minister of State for Municipal, Communications and Information Technology Affairs Dr Rana Al- Faris to the question of MP Dr Hamad Al-Matar about the collection of fines.

According to Al-Manfouhi, the above mentioned amount was collected from fiscals 2016/2017 to 2020/2021 through the Sentences Enforcement Department in the Ministry of Interior. He explained that Criminal Procedures and Trials Law number 17/1960 states the General Criminal Investigation Department is in charge of municipal misdemeanor cases; hence, the collection of fines for these cases is carried out by the Sentences Enforcement Department.
