KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The father of 12-year-old Omar Al- Kamali, has filed a complaint with the police accusing his teacher of assaulting his special needs son wounding him in the head, reports Al-Rai daily.
The father told the daily that when he went to pick his son from the special needs education school: “I was surprised that he was wounded in the head.
The teacher, a Kuwaiti, beat him on the head and caused him injury. He was taken to the school clinic although his condition required that he be rushed to the hospital.” He added, the school principal asked him not to register a case against the teacher, saying the school has no CCTV cameras to prove the incident. “My son Omar was taken to the hospital and underwent treatment. I received a medical report and went to the police station. They told me that this was the responsibility of the community police and that I should submit the complaint to them on Sunday,” he said.
“I went to the principal of the school and was surprised when he begged me and tried to persuade me not to register a case. He told me that they are suffering from shortage of CCTV cameras to monitor what was going on inside the school especially that all students are with special needs.”
The father said he is requesting the Minister of Education to hold the perpetrators accountable and take legal action “and give my son his right to ensure the protection of children who left in the care of teachers and school administration by their parents.”
