KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali will soon issue a decision to allow Kuwaiti women to join the Kuwaiti armed forces, reports Al-Qabas daily. Reliable sources told the daily the decision will allow Kuwaiti women to serve the army alongside their male brothers. The women are expected to be inducted as officers and noncommissioned officers in the support services sectors of the Ministry of Defense, such as medical services and other departments and sectors of the Kuwaiti army. The first batch, the sources said, will consist of between 100 and 150 women, who will be nominated for the officers and non-commissioned officers’ course.
