The Ministry of Health continues, for the fifth consecutive day, with procedures for testing expatriates arriving in Kuwait and those who arrived after Feb 27. According to the latest reports, the ministry completed the procedures yesterday as per the schedule devoted to testing expatriates from Egypt, Syria and Lebanon in Hawally Governorate.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr Abdullah Al- Sanad mentioned that roughly 14,000 expatriates were tested, explaining that procedures for examining expats are carried out in four stages, starting with measuring temperature, passing through the classification of cases based on the presence of symptoms of the disease, and even isolating cases and making the necessary surveys.

Dr Al-Sanad indicated that hundreds of surveys were taken in accordance with certain protocols recommended by the World Health Organization and many international bodies, and during the four stages of the tests, information is taken and recorded about the person, and then communication is established with that person as part of the home periodic follow-up and monitoring procedure, noting “in the previous period, we detected only one case that had been announced, and we have yet to finish, as there is continuous examination and screening to check on the general situation”.

He added that procedures for testing expatriates inside the exhibition grounds came within the framework of the preemptive and preventive measures the Ministry of Health is taking to tighten control of the disease in a bid to contain it, as it made several efforts since the first day by activating the surveillance system at the airport, ports, primary care centers and hospitals.

Also, thousands of expats continued to arrive for the fifth consecutive day at the medical test center inside the exhibition grounds to conduct the tests for the novel coronavirus (COVID- 19), where the Ministry of Health allocated a day for each governorate since the end of last week to conduct tests for those coming from affected countries. The testing practice for expats living in Jahra Governorate concluded, also for Farwaniya and Hawally, whereas the tests for expats living in Ahmadi, Capital and Mubarak Al-Kabeer are scheduled to conclude in the next three days.
