Harsh penalties on those who refrain paying workers salaries

Kuwait CITY, Jun 27: Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqel allocated office of General Authority for Manpower in the isolated areas to receive labor complaints related to disputes with the company owners related to failure of implementation of labor rights.

Minister Al-Aqel told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that coordination with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh an office for the workforce and another affiliated with the General Administration of Investigations in the shelters in the areas of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Farawaniya has been allocated.

The manpower authority's keenness to listen to complaints of migrant workers and deal with them according to the law to ensure that they obtained their rights, many complaints led to the detection of companies suspected of trafficking in human beings and residencies, and legal measures were taken against them.

She stated that the workforce has liquidated many of the financial guarantees seized with the authority and spent the overdue salaries of workers to ensure that they obtain their financial rights, stressing that she will not hesitate to take harsher measures towards companies that refrain from paying their workers' salaries.

Minister Al-Aqel thanked the Ministry of Interior for the continuous support of the efforts of the General Authority for Manpower and Inspection Teams in shelters and isolated areas.

She pointed out that this cooperation resulted in success in the detection of many companies suspected of trafficking in human beings and residencies. (KUNA) -
