KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: The Criminal Court chaired by Counselor Muhammad Al-Sanei sentenced a lawyer and four expatriates to life imprisonment for their involvement in the kidnapping of another lawyer.

They were ordered to pay KD10,000 in temporary compensation to the plaintiff for physical and emotional damages he suffered as a result of the incident.

In a statement after the verdict, the plaintiff disclosed his intention to file for one million dinars compensation.

One of the four defendants denied the accusations during investigation while the others admitted the offense, giving detailed account of the incident. They blamed the lawyer for ordering them to perpetrate the crime of monitoring the victim and subsequently kidnapping him for monetary reward.

The accusations against the defendants involved kidnapping, threatening and infringing on the victim’s freedom by disguising as security operatives to assault him, in addition to seizing the mobile of the victim, rendering him handcuffed, and placing him under surveillance.
