KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali Al-Sabah recently supervised the operation to rescue 21 people who were on a boat which malfunctioned, prompting them to request for help through emergency Hotline No.112, reports Al-Anba daily. The minister went to the naval base in Al-Jula’a where acting Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Mubarak Al-Amiri welcomed him. The minister issued instructions to the maritime patrols and forces in determining the location of the boat, taking into consideration the difficult climatic conditions that caused the rise of waves and instability of the sea.

The location was determined in record time in coordination with a number of competent authorities. He supervised the evacuation of 21 people who were on board the boat including two children and two infants. The rescuers pulled the boat towards the berth of the base, while the medical team checked the health condition of those on board the boat and then the ministry provided the means of transportation for them to return to their respective homes.

He thanked all the parties involved in the rescue operation; particularly Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah who allowed the Coast Guard forces to use the dock of the Ministry of Defense in the rescue operation, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah for the participation of Kuwait Firefighting Force, Coast Guard General Department and everyone who are working to guarantee the security and safety of citizens and expatriates.
