‘Team tasked to develop real, targeted future study’
KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hamad Al- Adwani, said the Ministry of Education is putting final touches to the education development plan through the Public Education Development Working Group in the State of Kuwait, in coordination with the relevant authorities, based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, and the Education, Health and Youth Committee, reports Al-Jarida daily. Al-Adwani said, “In light of the directives of the political leadership to reform public education in Kuwait, the education development team in Kuwait, which is composed of national elements of specialized academics, quality experts, and field people from among the ministry’s employees, members of educational initiatives, civil society, and the anti-corruption authority and the Teachers Association, said by restructuring the Supreme Education Council, including defining its relationship with education and the National Authority for Academic Accreditation, ensures the quality of education and the Education Development Center, to be an independent body, in order to give priority to education, and the independence of the oversight bodies in the educational system to be more effective concerning the most important tasks of the Education Reform Team.

Al-Adwani stated that the team is tasked with developing a real, realistic and targeted future study to improve education in Kuwait through several tasks, including determining the public education development initiatives and projects required in accordance with the education system proposed by the law establishing the Supreme Education Council, introducing public education development initiatives and projects by defining their most prominent tasks, outputs, time programs, implementation mechanisms and estimated budgets and reviewing the proposal for the law establishing the Supreme Education Council.
Al-Adwani announced that the team has taken real and serious steps, by defining 11 projects for the development of education, “and we set goals for the implementation of these projects such as a project for governance and ensuring the quality of the educational system, a project for housing leadership positions, a project for preparing a general policy for education, a project for preparing a national framework for curricula standards.
In terms of general education, a project to establish a national training and qualification center for public education workers, the teacher’s license project, educational professional licenses and the related incentive system, the academic accreditation project for the College of Education at Kuwait University and the College of Basic Education in Applied Sciences, the national examinations project (university admission test), and the classification project schools and the relevant incentive system, the project to restructure the Ministry of Education, and the project to integrate people with disabilities in education. The minister explained that reforming education is a national priority, a basic pillar for the nation’s renaissance, and one of the most important requirements for comprehensive and sustainable development programs in the country. “Therefore, the ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research seek to put these projects into effect during the next few weeks,” he said.
