Medicines prices as per global rules’

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: The Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Sabah announced the signing of an agreement with Abbott International to manufacture 26 innovative products in Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily. In his Twitter account, the minister said, “A new achievement for the Ministry of Health, and creation of jobs in various medical industries is the fruit of the efforts of the Food and Medicine Control Sector, as it has strengthened regulations to encourage investment by global pharmaceutical companies. This has resulted in the Abbott International Company signing an agreement to manufacture 26 innovative products in the State of Kuwait”.

In this regard, the Assistant Undersecretary for Food and Medicine Control Affairs Dr Abdullah Al-Bader revealed that the ministry has recently regulated rules and procedures for pricing of medicines in line with the latest international standards. In his Twitter account, Dr Al-Badr said, “This will encourage the attraction of major international pharmaceutical companies to invest in the country with the aim of keeping pace with the rapid development of pharmaceutical manufacturing and seeking to enter into new areas that serve the national economy”.

Meanwhile, the American Ambassador to Kuwait Alina Romanowski said in her Twitter account a few days ago, “Congratulations to the American healthcare company, Abbott, for the strategic partnership with the Kuwait-Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries Co (KSPICO). I enjoyed an interactive dialogue about the future of the healthcare sector in Kuwait with the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait Investment Authority, and the American – Kuwaiti Business Council. The American companies are world leaders in the field of healthcare.”
