KUWAIT CITY, March 8, (Agencies): The Ministry of Health has approved the installation of 5 modern and advanced ‘mobile’ thermal cameras at the Kuwaiti airports to examine passengers arriving in the country to check the symptoms of coronavirus, one of which is body temperature, reports Al-Anba daily.

The new thermal cameras include modern and advanced specifications that enable them to capture the symptoms accurately. Since these cameras are mobile, they can be moved from one place to another without much effort and time. The new thermal cameras are known to give signals when monitoring the rise in temperature of passengers quickly and accurately.

Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah and Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al-Aqeel visited the Al-Joun center quarantine to check on the well-being of citizens and services provided there. The two ministers closely observed the medical and security systems at the center, as well as means of preventing the spread of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Social Affairs said in a statement on Sunday. They directed the working teams to provide sufficient amounts of medicine supplies and exert more efforts to meet the daily needs of citizens at the center, the ministry noted. They also hailed the tremendous efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health’s staff to fight the virus, it added. (KUNA)

A statement by the ministry added: “Persons who arrived from these countries, are obliged to implement compulsory home quarantine, for a period of two weeks from the date of departure.” Friday night, the Cabinet banned fl ights from the abovementioned countries for a period of one week, due to the spread of coronavirus.
Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission (CSC) directed on Sunday all government agencies to bar employees placed under any form of quarantine to start work. CSC said in a statement posted on the social media account “twitter” that the ban is applicable to Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti employees, noting that the decision is in compliance with the mandatory quarantine declared by the Health Ministry. Salaries’ payment will continue as regular to all Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti employees under all kinds of compulsory quarantine and their absence from work will not affect their employment status, it added.

Two new cases
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced on Sunday registering two new coronavirus cases bringing the total number of the confirmed cases in the country to 64.

The ministry official spokesperson, Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, said in a statement that one of the two news cases was of a female citizen who came back to Kuwait from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the other one was of an expatriate who had travelled to Azerbaijan, via the United Arab Emirates, on a private visit.

The latter had returned on the same fl ight, via the same route, the spokesperson said, noting that the male patient did not travel to Egypt over the past six months. The expatriate checked with an emergency ward of the Ministry of Health. Personnel after verifying dates of his travel placed him under quarantine because he came back from a state that recorded coronavirus cases. His transfer to a specialized hospital was underway. With recording the two new cases, the overall number of coronavirus infections in the State of Kuwait has climbed to 64.
