KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: The decision to close the airport and halt air traffic has caused confusion for some Kuwaiti students, especially those studying in Egypt, as a number of them could not travel to take the exams that were scheduled to be held this week.
Many of them sought to present excuses to the administrations of their colleges in order for the latter to understand their position, reports Al-Qabas daily. Some students expressed their fear about the unavailability of airline tickets after the reopening of the airport. Some others said they hoped the exams would be replaced by research or assignments that do not require physical attendance.
Others demanded that they be excluded from the ban and that their travel procedures are facilitated for them to take their exams and graduation. Head of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students in Egypt Ahmed Al-Shammari said NUKS and the cultural attaché had interacted to postpone the students’ exams during the period of the airport’s closure.

He revealed that some students had contacted the cultural attaché to send a copy of the exam schedule and their data to complete the postponement process until the resumption of flights or as determined by the university. Al-Shammari affirmed that the students’ health conditions are excellent, but encouraged them to continue following the health requirements and stay away from gatherings due to the high number of infections and deaths. He said, “The option is available for students whether they want to register to take the vaccine in Egypt or in Kuwait.”
