‘It was distinguished with accomplishments’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8, (KUNA): His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Thursday lauded the outgoing 15th legislative term of the National Assembly saying it was distinguished with accomplishments and constructive cooperation among all government departments for facing breakout of the novel coronavirus. Addressing final session of the closing legislative term, His Highness the Prime Minister called on the national stakeholders to re-examine the health situation in shadow of rising rates of deaths, numbers of patients undergoing treatment in intensive care units and beds’ occupation at the clinics and hospitals. “We ought to examine these three situations,” he stated.
Mourning death of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, “mentor of Kuwait’s reconnaissance and democracy,” the prime minister called for aiding the new Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in his leadership of the country for Kuwait’s promotion and prosperity. “The current legislative term was marked with a lot of achievements namely constructive cooperation among all government departments for facing spread of the coronavirus,” Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said.
Hoping nations of the globe would succeed in the efforts to contain the contagion, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled expressed gratitude to the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Bassel Al- Sabah, front-line staff, medics, all personnel of the MoH, policemen, Kuwait Army, the National Guard and the fire bridges for the enormous efforts they exerted for doing work in the shadow of the contagion spread. However, the prime minister cautioned of alarming indexes such as higher death rates and more admissions at ICUs.
“The top responsibility rests with the government and I am on top with regard of pursuing measures to alleviate impact of the pandemic,” he said, stressing that all national-level stakeholders must work as a team. Thanking the speaker for his wise leadership and the citizens for cooperating in the fight against the coronavirus, the prime minister said, “Democracy remains the sole option, it is the path for promotion and attaining aspirations for prosperity of our country.”
