Sufficient stock of medicines, & medical supplies available in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, March 19: Dr Al-Bader stressed that the quick testing kits to detect coronavirus will arrive in the country in the coming days, indicating that 400,000 testing kits will be provided starting from next week.
He revealed that the budget for the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector has been increased to face the coronavirus crisis, adding that the medicines for chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases and cancer among others are in stock.
Dr Al-Bader praised all the employees of the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector for their commitment to work and for opting to serve their country instead of sitting at home.
He also thanked the supervisory agencies – Central Agency for Public Tenders, Fatwa and Legislation Department and the State Audit Bureau – for completing all transactions and files belonging to the sector in record time in order to ensure continued support for the medical sector. He also thanked the pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies for their continued cooperation in supporting the strategic inventory. He expressed appreciation for the donations of people and institutions, which highlights the participation of the community and their proactive engagement with the general situation.
Sufficient stock of medicines
Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Supplies at Ministry of Health Dr Abdullah Al-Bader announced that the strategic stock of medicines and medical supplies is 100 percent sufficient, reports Al- Anba daily.
In a press statement, he affirmed that the availability of sufficient strategic stock is based on the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled for “sustainability” in providing complete healthcare to all citizens and residents, and in line with direct instructions from the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah and Undersecretary of Ministry of Health Dr Mustafa Redha.
Dr Al-Bader stated that all medicines, medical devices and supplies have been provided to all hospitals, health centers, quarantine centers, and testing centers at the Mishref exhibitions ground. He highlighted about the existence of a plan for the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector to provide all means of personal protection for the medical staff and all necessary equipment and kits for testing the new coronavirus.
